February Resident of the Month

One of the many wonderful parts of working in long-term care is hearing the stories of the individuals we care for. They often have the wisdom to pass on to us and enjoy the opportunity to talk about some of the special moments in their life. One resident we have had the pleasure of speaking with was Patricia Ann Schmidt!

Patricia, also known as Pat or Oma to her grandchildren, was born in Mercer County of Celina, Ohio, on July 18th, 1941. She has lived in many places throughout Ohio, including Mt. Vernon and Columbus. She also lived in St. Petersburg, Florida, for three years.



When Pat was a child, she always wanted a horse and dreamed of being a cowboy! Although she never became a cowboy, Pat went on to attend college at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, graduating in 1962 as an RN. Pat was an RN for 42 years, working in hospitals, nursing homes, and agencies.

Pat loves to be outside, camping, and campfires, and enjoys having smores, listening to music, and laughing with her family! Pat loves being active and participating in sports. Growing up, she played softball and basketball. Eventually, Pat moved on to cross-country skiing as an adult. She also loves watching the OSU sporting events.

Pat is a mother and a grandmother. She has five children and is also a dog mom to two schnauzers named Molly and Little Molly. She holds onto some very special memories of being at the birth of all of her grandchildren. This year, along with a birthday card, she is going to include a special note for each grandchild!
